Today is 19th February 2022, that is, the Jayanti of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and for his Jayanti, we will see the principles that we should learn from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Principle 1 – Knowledge is everything
When Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was young, his father i.e. Chhatrapati Shahajiraje Bhosale was the Jahagirdar of Bijapur Sultanate. His mother Jijabai gave him both the sanskars of his mother and the knowledge of his father. From childhood, he narrated the stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata. And from him, the younger Shivaji Maharaj learned one thing which is Team Building. Lord Rama himself was capable but was not alone in any circumstance. In Ramayana and Mahabharata, there is a lot like teaching a king and a leader. And he got all this knowledge at a very young age. Swaraj was a dream, but it would have been fulfilled only if this dream did not allow others to sleep as well. It is not common to capture 300 forts in just 30 years. To keep friendship with his army, he used to eat food on the same plate so that others could feel that he is not just a king but he is our king, it shows his True Leadership.
Principle 2 – Learn to leave your comfort zone –
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is known as the Father of the Indian Navy. But in the decade of 13, India’s navy was getting very weak, due to which we were becoming dependent on Arab countries for trade. And because of the distraction from the Navy, we were under threat from the Portuguese and the British. Chhatrapati knew that the danger was not only from the Sultanate, but it was also from the European colonizers, so he again raised the Indian Navy. Historians believe that there used to be 20 big war boats in the Indian Navy, with the help of which Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj drove the Britishers from Konkan. He was a visionary who knew the intentions of the Britishers. He knew how to win big battles even with a small army.
Principle 3 – The Power of Unity, The Power of Purpose
The world knows the Divide and Rule principle of the Britishers, but Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s theory was different.
Aurangzeb himself had said that I tried my best to stop Shivaji for the whole nineteen years, but still his empire continued to grow. The Portuguese called Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj the “Attila of Hindustan”. But why? When an army fights for a single purpose, it can bring an enemy stronger than itself to its knees. He said that why did we stay on our earth because of fear? Why do you enslave others? And the answer was an idea which was Swaraj. This plan inspired freedom fighters like Lokmanya Tilak to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who fought against the Britishers. This applies to your life as well. Find the purpose of your life and if this purpose inspires people, then people will automatically add. This is a lesson, we can learn from the principles of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
